It was only possible to put the braze-ons so far outward that the distance of 80 mm would be kept again.

 

That was according the cycle manufacturer against his principles because the mounts would be pulled away from the fork and the braze points weren`t designed for that.  "Always put pressure on the fork never tension!" I heard him saying.

 

He didn`t like the idea of the V-brakes. The rear end would provide much more problems anyway. He recommended just to try "usual" racing brakes. They are also availabe with a long brake calliper and that would make the brake retrofit much more easier.

 

So we pored over some race bike cataloques and afterwards we went the whole hog. 

 

So my Brommi got racing brakes.
